do you read me?! x Flaneur Festival

August 31, 11 am to September 1, 7.30 am at the HKW
Everyone who is keen on not-just-another-ordinary-launch-party swing by at the HKW for the very first Flaneur Festival celebrating their eighth issue ‘Kangding Road/Wanda Road - Taipei’ from August 31st, 11 am until September 01st, 7.30 am. Within these 20.5 hours you'll get the chance to participate at artist Zo Lin's extended weed-processing workshop from collecting to classifying and preparing a traditional tea ceremony, you can follow artist Snow Huang's sound walk through the Tiergarten listening to hitherto unheard letters of victims of the ‘White Terror’, join the discussions about publishing as a tool of activism within and beyond Taiwan's democracy movements, or have a singsong with queer video and performer artist Cheng-Ta Yu at Shasha's Piano Bar... Of course there is plenty more to discover, like the Reading Room where we are delighted to present a small range of books and magazines which swirl around the Festivals main themes together with our Taipei friends Pong Ding - and not to forget: The entry is free! Read more about what it actually means to stretch the idea of publishing a magazine to its very limits in our exclusive interview with Grashina Gabelmann from Flaneur here.

Michael De Feo book signing at do you read me?!

29th May, from 7pm - 9pm
Michael De Feo aka the ‘Flower Guy’ is coming to town and we’ll warmly invite you to join us on the 29th of May to our little shop in Auguststrasse 28. While we’ll indulge ourselves in the good, ‘old-school’ time, Michael will be so kind and sign some books and talk about his flower projects, from the very beginning as a street artist in the early 1990s to his latest intervention with fine art. As you (probably) know we are infamous for our limited space so please submit that you are coming here! We look forward to seeing you there! For everybody who is as curious as we are, we had the fortune to ask Michael some questions beforehand: More
International Women Day

International Women Day 2019

Well, well, well we've got some treasures for you...
...as we all know this year's International Women Day is on its way. So we thought why not talk about sex, gender, and equality for a start. Luckily, the times feminism is associated with edgy, cold-blooded, joyless women who wear their hair on their teeth, as we say in German, are definitely over. On the contrary the F* word seems to be the hottest shit these days. Many are inspired and encouraged by brave folks who lead the way, telling how they experience equality (or not) at work, out on the streets, and at home. Coming along Joan Didion’s line “We tell our stories in order to life”, we take the American essayist by her word and give space to the manifold voices and their individual stories, compiling all our inspiring titles on feminism, gender, and equality. As feminism is as diverse, complicated, beautiful as women and girls are, it would be wrong to not talk about masculinity, lgbtq and gender at the same time as this cultural paradigm shift happening right now affects us all. So we are delighted that founder and creative director of Anxy Magazine, Indhira Rojas, found some time to talk with us about Anxy’s latest issue Masculinity for our second Q&A coming this week! For everybody who can’t decide what to do on this year's International Women Day why not join Art+Feminism Wikipedia Edit-a-thon? Together with Swathi Sriram and Kirsten Palz you will create Wikipedia entries on cis and transgender woman, non-binary individuals, feminism, and arts. Since seats are limited don’t hesitate and save your place right now. And don't forget your laptop and power cord and feel free to bring some snacks, cake or fruit for you and your fellow editors. Drinks will be served at the location. And now you go and celebrate the beauty and diversity of (wo)mankind! or, browse our collection

Apartamento Magazine and do you read me?!, together with German artist Stefan Marx, warmly invite you to join us in celebrating the release of Apartamento’s latest cookbook on Friday, November 9, at 7 pm. Come around, hang out and grab your signed copy by artist Stefan Marx. Apartamento will be donating 20% of all profits made from sales of the book to a local charity in Barcelona, so the evening will also be in support of a good cause.
