Contextualizing the Bauhaus’s legacy within the contemporary environmental destruction of a small, energy-driven German town. This publication interweaves stories about the energy-defined landscape of the German town of Bitterfeld with the modern legacy of the Bauhaus. Using archival documents, physical interventions and field studies, it proposes a new reading of the Bauhaus’s modernist motto “Light! Air! Sun!” recast as “Heat, Breathe, Grow”.
