Over the last forty years, architecture has increasingly grappled with notions of responsibility and irresponsibility. Meanwhile design has been relegated to the realm of the “unnecessary” – a tempting visual boast. Design tends to prioritize beauty and evocation, while architecture delves into the representation and revelation of our darkest tendencies, as exemplified by the raw and abrasive force of Brutalism. Flash Art Volumes: Anti-Composition is the first publication dedicated to this new (and forgotten) aesthetic. Conceived by the editor-in-chief of Flash Art, Gea Politi, and the creative director, Alessio Avventuroso, and Guest curated by the architect and curator Luigi Alberto Cippini, Anti-Composition is organized into three distinct sections: “HBC”, “cute Stalking”, and “Institutions, please no!”.
