Schmuckismus! accompanies the spring eponymous exhibiton at Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich. In the works of a current generation of artists, jewellery has largely detached itself from self-reflection; instead, jewellery is used directly as an instrument for social reflection. Topics such as ecology, consumer society or feminism are directly expressed through the medium of jewellery. There are also softer tones, which, however, express no less socially relevant themes in jewellery, such as questions of identity formation or the actual state of human existence in the 21st century.
