The wealthy got wealthier and disproved trickle-down economics. Communicating did not just mean talking with friends, it was also a way of creating new forms of community. A few people – artists, musicians, writers, activists, poets – gave us the tools we needed to survive. It’s time to look back, in neither anger nor judgement, at the decade on which we just shut the door. Peering through the peephole, we’ll likely see a few naked selfies, but we just might get a glimpse of ourselves.
