Reference: Hussein Chalayan positions referencing as a form of homage and education.

Chalayan's process and designs have long been anchored in experimentation and cross-

disciplinary research. His use of unexpected, cerebral references as departure points has

drawn attention to concepts and theories previously deemed outside the realm of fashion

design. By providing a window into these worlds, his work has encouraged those

practising across creative fields to widen their breadth of study and absorb a

kaleidoscope of references.

What Chalayan has established is a regenerative circle of creativity: he researches and

references making objects steeped in those ideas. Those objects are archived for

reference in formal and informal environments; creatives research and reference Chalayan

and make objects steeped in those ideas.

Reference: Hussein Chalayan is an extension of the Acne Studios Hussein Chalayan

collection, using the collaboration as an opportunity to highlight and interrogate the

continued influence of Chalayan's practice, with an interpretation that emphasises the

shared creative codes and methodologies of Chalayan and Acne Studios.
