At first a collage of Cold War scenes featuring the startling presence of actor Steve McFadden, the set pieces have since grown to take in the plight of the United Kingdom, the farce of the political classes, and a cast of characters as broad and diverse (and daft) as the country itself. Yet it is especially the early pieces reproduced in this book which comprise the essence of the artist’s aesthetic vision, original humour, and surrealism.
