International Women Day

International Women Day 2019

Well, well, well we've got some treasures for you...
...as we all know this year's International Women Day is on its way. So we thought why not talk about sex, gender, and equality for a start. Luckily, the times feminism is associated with edgy, cold-blooded, joyless women who wear their hair on their teeth, as we say in German, are definitely over. On the contrary the F* word seems to be the hottest shit these days. Many are inspired and encouraged by brave folks who lead the way, telling how they experience equality (or not) at work, out on the streets, and at home. Coming along Joan Didion’s line “We tell our stories in order to life”, we take the American essayist by her word and give space to the manifold voices and their individual stories, compiling all our inspiring titles on feminism, gender, and equality. As feminism is as diverse, complicated, beautiful as women and girls are, it would be wrong to not talk about masculinity, lgbtq and gender at the same time as this cultural paradigm shift happening right now affects us all. So we are delighted that founder and creative director of Anxy Magazine, Indhira Rojas, found some time to talk with us about Anxy’s latest issue Masculinity for our second Q&A coming this week! For everybody who can’t decide what to do on this year's International Women Day why not join Art+Feminism Wikipedia Edit-a-thon? Together with Swathi Sriram and Kirsten Palz you will create Wikipedia entries on cis and transgender woman, non-binary individuals, feminism, and arts. Since seats are limited don’t hesitate and save your place right now. And don't forget your laptop and power cord and feel free to bring some snacks, cake or fruit for you and your fellow editors. Drinks will be served at the location. And now you go and celebrate the beauty and diversity of (wo)mankind!

Apartamento Cookbook Launch and Signing

Friday, November 9, at 7 pm
Apartamento Magazine and do you read me?!, together with German artist Stefan Marx, warmly invite you to join us in celebrating the release of Apartamento’s latest cookbook on Friday, November 9, at 7 pm. Since 2016, Apartamento has invited the world’s best chefs, food lovers, and culinary taste makers to contribute to a series of annual cookbooks. Each edition is based around a specific theme, and this year the book provides a fresh take on a global staple: the humble grain of rice. Stefan Marx has accompanied each of the 16 recipes with his weirdly adorable drawings. Come around, hang out and grab your signed copy by artist Stefan Marx. Apartamento will be donating 20% of all profits made from sales of the book to a local charity in Barcelona, so the evening will also be in support of a good cause. We look forward to seeing you there! Buy
032c #34 2018

032c #34 2018

032c, the summer issue is out now. Themed around a Big Flat Now moment, this 34th issue invites loosening up all ties with the past and future, and string along with the streams of decentralized information running through media without hierarchy. A tremendous overflow with no clear perspective, “no yesterday and no tomorrow” at its core. This issue’s dossier presents twelve entries about this seemingly infinite ground featuring encounters with rapper Travis Scott, Gucci’s creative director Alessandro Michele, WorldWideWitch community creator Johannes Paul Raether, artist Luchita Hurtado, collector Kenny Schachter, photographer Wolfgang Tillmans, and as usual, a spectacle of splendid photoshoot series. Berlin Living Rooms

Berlin Living Rooms

Dominique Nabokov
Berlin Living Rooms concludes Dominique Nabokov’s living rooms photo series, which started in New York, then moved to Paris and finally settles in the German capital. Different people including writer and opera director Jenny Erpenbeck, director of the Berlin Biennale Dieter Kosslig, and former editor-in-chief of German Vogue Angelica Blechschmidt, have agreed to open their doors and share some of what is usually part of a safely private world. We note that some of these chambers are unmistakably tidy and minimal, others, -through the suggestive power of their decorative items- recall a different era; be it the DDR, or the Weimar Republic, they are guaranteed to take you into wide-ranging departments of aesthetic preferences. It goes without saying that this book doesn"t really pretend to disclose all sorts of adopted styles of the Berlin dwellers as much as it offers an eclectic view on the taste of a city. Buy
